About this work

Description

This title deals with the recognition of operative shock, its causes and prevention, the indications for treatment and finally the treatment itself. Interestingly the film refers to prior, erroneous advice with regards to limiting fluid intake which can lead to dehydration. Charts show adverse changes in blood pressure during some operations. A number of real life patients in surgery are shown; notably a leg amputation at the thigh. A patient is shown with severe shock and the surgery is terminated early. The anaesthetist accompanies the patient back to the ward. ICI. The End.
