About this work

Description

The first in a three-part series looking at the history of research into human sexuality. This part focuses specifically on female sexuality and orgasm. Meredith Chivers re-enacts her 2004 study into sexual arousal which seems to prove that woman are more sexually adventurous than men. Other studies are recounted and Lesley Hall talks about Henry Havelock Ellis. William Howell Masters and Virginia Johnson conducted one of the largest studies into sexual arousal in the 1950s. Their research is discussed and dramatically reconstructed. Research into the female orgasm led to theories about the 'g spot' and a growing understanding of the role of the clitoris in female organism.
