From the outset, the crowning moment of a baby being born is shown. There are historical images of childbirth and then lectures to expectant mothers. Several sequences of mothers-to-be appear to have been dramatised as they book themselves in for classes and talk about their expectations. Contractions are explained together with the appropriate wave diagrams. Abdomen massage is seen for mothers in labour and various breathing exercises are practiced. There are a series of births; one is a breach birth with the baby born feet first.
