About this work

Description

Woodcut illustration of moxibustion techniques, with marginal sketch and annotations. The text states that a bean-sized quantity of moxa should be placed on the tip of an acupuncture needle. If the left thumb is used to hold the needle, it should be moved forwards to achieve purging and drawn back to achieve reinforcement; if the right thumb is used, it should be moved backwards for purging and forwards for reinforcement.
