File 1 contains the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Wellcome Foundation Limited with notes on the appointment of trustees inside, a copy of the will of Sir Henry Wellcome, a second copy of the will of Sir Henry Wellcome along with a memorandum for the guidance of his trustees, deed of retirement and appointment making McMichael a Wellcome trustee, with associated deed of covenant, papers relating to the 1963 High Court case of the Wellcome Trustees vs. Her Majesty's Attorney-General.

File 2 includes correspondence concerning McMichael resigning as a trustee of the Mounteney Wellcome settlement, press releases about the reduction of the Trusts holdings in Wellcome PLC, information from Glaxo PLC regarding the purchase of Wellcome PLC shares, copy of the Friends Newsletter including an obituary of Sir William Paton, notes for a speech by Peter Williams at the 90th birthday of Henry Barcroft, copy of The Wellcome Trust Story 1960-1991: Personal Recollections by Peter Williams, various press cuttings concerning the work of the Trust, and a collection of photographs collected by McMichael in his work as Wellcome Trustee.
