    though the belching of wind would relieve them. Some effect this with little difficulty. Others are obliged to make various exertions to bring it about; fuch as, firetching the head upward and backward, and advancing the ffioulders alternately upward and for- ward, while, at the fame time, they make the common effort to break wind. % / Patients labouring under this diforder ge- nerally complain of lofs of flefh and ffrength. They call the lofs of ffrength, fometimes a general weaknefs, fometimes an internal weaknefs, and fometimes only a weaknefs of the parts affected by the fits, as of the bread:, arms &c. The Larynx, or top of the windpipe, hath been weakened by thofe paroxyfms fo as very much to alter the voice; In other refpects, they generally feel be- tween the fits as though nothing ailed them; except that they may be affefted with a few fymptoms of a weak digeflion, fuch as fla- tulency.
