Description

The ashes of a cremated body were contained in this cinerary urn. It shows a scene from the Greek story of Oedipus. His two sons Etecles and Polynices are fighting. The urn is made of terracotta. It is thought to be of Etruscan origin. The Etruscans ruled much of what is now Northern Italy before the rise of the Roman Empire. maker: Unknown maker Place made: Europe
