    great improvement in the general appearance of the gardens this summer, in spite of the difficulties of labour. We cannot close without again expressing our most grateful thanks to Dr. Turner, not only for his regular visits, but for the numerous little kindnesses he has done both for us and the patients. Also we should like to say how much we have appreciated the welcome visits of the Trustees during the year and the very great kindnesses we have received from our numerous outside friends. I think we all feel that in spite of the many problems of these difficult times we can start 1918 more than ever convinced of the need of St. Giles, and that it is worth while facing any difficulties in order to carry on the work.
