Description

A dividing Swiss 3T3 fibroblast cell. Fibroblast cells are a special cell type that forms the structural framework of animal tissue, and are the main cells found in connective tissue. This cell is in the final stages of cell division (cytokinesis) to form two daughter cells. These cells express green fluorescent protein (GFP), which is expressed in the cytoplasm of the cells and are also stained for F-actin (red) and DAPI (Blue). The cells in the background are non-dividing cells. The dividing cells in the forground highlight the F-actin stain that is actively separating the two cells. TheDAPI, which highlights the genetic material, marks the nucleus of the cells.
