About this work

Description

Card no.11 in an "Album card series" featuring a painting by R. Epp showing an old woman with a baby on her lap and a young girl to her right. The baby is being taught how to pray. A tabby cat is playing in the bottom corner. The card advertises Dr. Jayne's medicines to cure cholera, colic, diarrhoea, dysentery, "all affections of the bowels", cramps, asiatic cholera, dyspepsia, worms and constipation. William Kirby (the pharmacist selling it?) has had his details overprinted on the bottom of the text on the reverse.
