About this work

Description

Tuberculous meningitis This is a coronal section through the optic chiasma and hippocampus in a patient who was HIV-positive. The leptomeninges are thickened by a grey exudate, which is especially marked between the optic chiasma and the pineal gland above. Note that the lateral ventricles are dilated. This is hydrocephalus secondary to obstruction of the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid.
