About this work

Description

They are wearing top hats and tails and are walking along a pavement covered with snow. The man on the left appears to be Hugh Childers, the second man from the left is Gladstone, and the second man from the right appears to be Sir William Harcourt. The man on the right with waxed mustachios appears to be Tom Merry's portrayal of Lord Randolph Churchill. They are also portrayed in a Tom Merry print of 18 December 1886, 'Scenes of the Liberal Union. Incorrigibles discharged' (Wellcome Library no. 564974i)
