    4 place amongst Chelsea mothers in Lying-in Hospitals and Homes outside the Borough, the total number of births for the year is 1,238. The birth-rate for 1911 is 18.8 per 1,000. The average birth rate of the Borough for the years 1901-10 is 21.7 per 1,000. The average birth-rate of the Home District of Chelsea Parish for the 5 years 1896-1900 was 24.1 per 1,000. The birth-rate of the past year is the lowest yet recorded. During the year 1911, 50 births of parishioners were registered as having occurred in the Chelsea Workhouse, equivalent to 4 per cent, of the total number of births in the Borough, as compared with 4.1 per cent. in 1910. DEATHS AND DEATH-RATES FOR 1911. The total number of deaths registered in the Borough was 1,527. Of this number 709 were deaths within the Borough of non-parishioners —chiefly occurring in Hospitals and in the St. George's Infirmary; and 216 deaths of parishioners occurred outside the Borough in various public institutions. There were, therefore, 1,034 deaths of parishioners of Chelsea. These 1,034 deaths are equivalent to a death-rate for the year of 15.7 per 1,000, as against 14.2 in 1910.
