Description

"Garam Girl Summer is the 2nd edition of Sunburnt featuring work from 30+ contributors. An 80+ paged zine filled with writing, photography, poetry, interviews and art all surrounding the theme of being unapologetically brown."-- From zinesters' website. https://sunburntzine.bigcartel.com/product/issue-2

"As South Asian women, many of us have faced countless micro-agressions from society, deeming us undesirable because of the colour of our skin. This often leads to internalised racism and generally feeling unworthy - I know lots of us can relate to wishing we were white growing up, and idolising Eurocentric beauty standards! Garam Girl Summer is about embracing and celebrating everything we were made to feel ashamed of as women of colour. This zine is a collaborative piece of work from so many wonderful South Asian creatives, telling their own relatable stories of self acceptance and journeys to overcoming the ideals which many South Asian women are held to."-- From Editor's note.
