About this work
Description
Transcripts from 'Physiognomie, chiromancie and metoposcopie' probably from the 1671 edition. Written by A. Howe. Illustrated with pen-drawings of heads and hands. A sheet of horoscopes gives the nativities of some of the transcriber's children, and includes questions and answers based on astrological methods. Among these is: 'Marriage with Anne Oatley or not?' dated 2 February, 1675. Another, dated 6 December of the same year: 'If I shall have children?' He did marry Anne, for in another question dated 31 April 1677 he asks: 'Whether my father-in-law Simon Oatley live or die?' One of the sheets of the transcript is dated 19 Feb. 1700/1.
