One of a series of advertising cards promoting Van Houten's Cocoa featuring characters from Charles Dickens' work (Mr. Bumble, Mr. Micawber, Captain Cuttle, Samuel Pickwick). The colour image on the front shows the character with a humorous (supposed) quotation extolling the virtues of Van Houten's Cocoa. In this case Samuel Pickwick from The Pickwick papers.
