![Prevalence of and Control over Infectious and Other Diseases, There were 543 notificat^.ons of Infectious Diseases (other than Tuberculosis) compared, vfith 551 in 1942* Measles and Whooping Cough were again prevalent and accoiinted for 363 cases of the 543. Compared v/ith the total of 1,586 notifications in 1940j, we can be satisfied with such low returns in the fifth year of war. Scarlet -Fever. There was a doclino in cases compared with 1942, 62 cases against 83. The type of disease was mild and generally free from complications. There wore no deaths. About 31)C of tho cases wore successfully treated at home with no ill effects and return^' cases were absent. Diphtheria. . There v/ere 29 cases notified, seven of these were non-residents. Of the 22 residents contracting this ct-iseasG, .five v/ere adults and 17 were children under 15 years of age, 3 o.f whom wore iraraunlsed and 14 non-imirmlsod, There laerc 2 deaths, both in non-imr.iunised' children.
