Description

Surreal, pre-Raphaelite influenced drama piece showing a child dressed as a fairy being given 'medicines' by a young woman shot with a sepia tone. The young woman dancing and peeling 'skin'. Young girl in ornate bed in an ornate room but with prison bars. The girl then lies in a 'coffin', which is carried away by four male dancers in red frock coats and then carried through a garden in a torchlight ceremony. There are shots of the young woman falling in a lily pond at night, as though dead. With a crashing electronic score.

Duped in 1967 from original negative. This is an extract from the 1966 film 'Ballet on a paraphrenic theme'. Formerly titled 'Drama Piece Rushes' prior to its association with the longer film was known.
This film forms part of a group of films donated to the Wellcome Trust in 2006 by The British Medical Association.
