About this work

Description

Shows group of dense purple blue, tubular flowered spikes with linear green leaves. The mint plant family. They are characteristically aromatic, and many of them are cultivated for their oils. Its slightly bitter and minty taste made it a popular kitchen herb in the Middle Ages. Has also been used as a remedy for respiratory complaints including coughs; hyssop tea from the flowers is an expectorant. Also used in the alcoholic drinks and cosmetics industries.
