Insecticide treated bednet programme

People who have registered and purchased a bednet are waiting while their bednet is treated as part of this vector-borne disease control programme. In this picture a man with plastic gloves will dip the nets into the bucket with the emulsion of insecticide. There is a pile of bednets ready for dipping in front of the buckets and a health worker reading out the name of the registered recipient. A large volume of insecticide (permethrin) is initially made up, then half a litre is transferred to a separate bucket where the bednet will soak up all the liquid. The saturated bednet is then placed in a plastic bag and dried at home.
