    My chief objects in the following Treatise have been to give arrangement to the various affections which have been termed Nervous and Bilious; to ascertain the nature of the disease on which they depend; to trace the causes which determine them to assume the various forms in which they are presented to us, and to determine the appropriate treat- \ ment of each of these forms.
