    HINTS FOR THE DYSPEPTIC; Rules of Diet classified by a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. FIRST CLASS. Things easy of digestion are Venison, mutton, hunted hare ; Pigeon, (if it young should be), Pheasant, partridge, and beef tea ; Mutton broth, and milkof fish Either of these four you wish; Whiting, haddock, turbot, sole, Forming an agreeable whole. Let your bread be always stale, Puddings light, too, without fail; Sago, arrowroot, and rice, For your wholesome fare suffice. Beans of France, and cauliflower, You may take at any hour; Nice sea-kale and “ sparrow-grass ” In the catalogue may pass. Orange, strawberry, and grape, Apple in a roasted shape; Toast-and-water, and Bohea, Should you a “Teatotal” be; Or, for beverage more merry, Sip your claret or your sherry.
