Correpsondence between J B S Haldane, Professor of Biometry at UCL, and L S Penrose, plus typescripts and working papers. Includes the following:

  • Copy of a letter from Haldane regarding the Galton Chair sent to L S Penrose in Canada via his brother, artist Roland Algernon Penrose. Includes a copy of a covering letter from Haldane to Roland Penrose, and a letter from Roland Penrose to Haldane in response.
  • Letters between Haldane and Penrose regarding Penrose's candidature for the Galton Chair, the future direction of Annals of Eugenics if Penrose were to be appointed, and Penrose's research into sex-linkage and the age of onset in mental health disorders.
  • Typescript copy of "Age of Onset and Sex in Familial Mental Illness" by L S Penrose, and copy of "Filial and Fraternal Correlations in Successive Generations" by R Stanton.
  • Typescript copy of "Effects of Assortative Mating on Filial and Fraternal Correlations" by L S Penrose
  • Correspondence between Haldane and Penrose regarding the papers mentioned above
