About this work

Description

"An autobiographical zine about mental health, emotion, and body acceptance, featuring 10 digital drawings of my own hands. Made in a concertina book format (instructions for how to fold out correctly are incorporated in the design!). This is the culmination of a few years' worth of sketches in my artwork. When I first painted, I painted with my hands - just making as big a mess as possible - then I moved on to drawing round my hands, and finally sketching and painting them. Hands are such a powerful symbol, pointing in so many different directions, that they became a bit of an obsession over the years. I hope that by narrowing my focus down to these images I will finally have it out of my system."--From zinester's Etsy store. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/549863156/the-book-of-hands-a-mental-health-zine
