10 July, 1880. Wyeth to Henry Wellcome. "... the projected partnership arrangement with you has just been received. We have advised Mr Burroughs that your co-operation would be most advantageous to him especially as you have had experience in the line of business which Mr Kelly had not...."

13 April, 1881. Wyeth to Burroughs. A long letter (in reply to Burroughs's letter of 19 February), detailing problematic aspects of their business relationship: "... as you will recall, on more than one occasion, we were forced to tell you that you gave us more bother, and more trouble than all our other travellers combined in your making too hasty arrangements with our customers, and oftentimes doing so in a way that we thought prejudicial to our interests...." [sheet 1].

8 February, 1882. Copy letter, typed, certified and signed (Wyeth Letter Book 1, Folio 119), Burroughs Wellcome & Co to Wyeth, proposing "exclusive control of your goods for all Foreign countries, except North and South America, we bearing all advertising expenses, and that you supply them to us at 25% above actual net cost of production, and we to pay for what goods are sold, quarterly."

12 July, 1882. Wyeth to Burroughs Wellcome & Co. "We enclose a copy of the Agreement you sent us so that you can note our objections to many of its clauses...." Copy of marked Agreement not attached, but the letter discusses the objections referred to.

22 August, 1882. Copy letter (typed, certified and signed), Burroughs Wellcome & Co to Wyeth, referring to Agreement.

14 September, 1882. Wyeth to Burroughs Wellcome & Co. Begins by referring to stamp duty. "In regard to machinery, we will be perfectly willing to sell you our machines at exactly what they cost us: we have now in course of erection a machine which if it comes up to our expectations, will make three hundred and sixty pills a minute and can be arranged, we think, to make all the pills except the Peptonic." Refers to having just received an encouraging letter from Burroughs in Australia.

27 September, 1882. Copy letter (typed, certified and signed), Burroughs Wellcome & Co to Wyeth. "We have come to an understanding with the Government officials by which they stay proceedings for the immediate, and permit us to continue the sale of the compressed goods without stamp for a short time, they requiring us to declare that the goods should be manufactured here at an early day."

13 October, 1882. Wyeth to Burroughs Wellcome & Co. "In reply to your letter of September 28th, just received, allow us to state that we are not prepared or willing to sell out to you the right to manufacture our compressed pills, as requested in this letter, and in a previous communication from you."

25 November, 1882. Wyeth to Henry Wellcome. "... we would not accept your offer of ten thousand ($10.000) dollars for the trade marks and privileges of using our machinery."
