There are, of course, degrees of enjoyment, just as there are degrees of enthusiasm, of brains, and of income; but it may be accepted as a rule that they appreciate most heartily the rest and beauty of a garden, who have not only hard work to do outside of it, but use their hands to promote, as well as their eyes to admire, its charms.
