About this work

Description

Max Bennett, Professor of Neurophysiology at Sydney University talks of his Jewish background and his family. He transferred from engineering studies to neurophysiology and demonstrated the existence of a major neurotransmitter, which turned out to be ATP, and discovered first calcium ion based action potentials. In addition to relating his work to that of other neurophysio logists of his generation, Professor Bennett also reviews the work of Langley, Sherrington, Eccles, Katz, Kuffler and other major contributors to the field. He discusses neurone/ motor-end-plate associations, and the chemical interactions governing their selection and survival. Finally, he talks about consciousness and his views on the subject. The interview provides valuable neurophysiology teaching.
