About this work
CHrhsmoi: containing 15 (out of 16), prophetic stanzas, with accompanying symbolic pictures: followed by 10 similar verses and illustrations relating to the Apocalypse, by an unidentified author: in Greek. Ornamental border-piece in upper margin of first leaf in red and black, large initials and headings in red. Illustrated with twenty-five water-colour drawings of a symbolic character. Of the sixteen illustrations given in Migne's edition of the 'CHrhsmoi' the first is wanting in this MS., but the remainder follow as in the printed version. (Cf. Migne 'Patrologia graeca'. Vol. 108, pp. 1122-1167.) Fol. 1 'Deontos ton sofotaton basileos ths Konstantino? / poleos // Buxantos anlh estia konstantinou pomh babulon kai sion / ...(End)...tois ichnesi son trospesonton ton pelas'. This is the 'Oraculum de restitutione Constantinopoleos' in Migne, p. 1150. 1v (red) METANIAC // Ditton to triton kai gar ornis ippoths...(Oraculum XVI in Migne)...ouk astochhseis ths ano klhroulias 9 Prophetic verses on Apocalyptic themes...'Pente dendra basileon ton eptalofon thn polin...' 13v 'eis ta upsh ton oreon' 14 Five lines beginning 'Touto o noon' struck through in red: these are repeated from fol. 12. On verso of fol. 14, medical notes by a later hand. The original paper covers, containing fragments of a sermon, the lower cover defective, have been bound in. The script of these is probably of later date-18th cent.
