    School Health Service : This was provided by the County Council and included the routine medical inspection of school children, special medical examinations and continued care of all handicapped children, dental inspections, treatment, and dental health education, and arrangements for the referring of children, where necessary, for specialist attention at eye clinics, hearing testing clinics, orthopaedic clinics, speech therapy sessions, and the child guidance psychiatric clinic. Inreasing attention was given to the health education of school children, and assistance in this respect was given to the staff at the Pershore County Secondary and other schools in the District. Laboratory Facilities: The County Council provided a laboratory for the chemical and bacteriological analysis of water, milk and other foods. The Public Health Laboratory Service provided at the Royal Infirmary, Worcoster, facilities for the bacteriological examination of specimens in connection with the diagnosis and prevention of spread of infectious disease Hospital Services: Infectious Disease Tuberculosis Maternity Children's Diseases Venereal Diseases Mental Illness General Aged Sick Immunisation Services: Newtown Hospital, Worcester. Newtown Hospital, Worcester. Avonside Hospital, Evesham. Ronkswood Hospital, Worcester. Worcester Royal Infirmary. Children's Hospital, Birmingham. Worcester Royal Infirmary. Powick Hospital. Pershore Cottage Hospital. V/orcester Royal Infirmary. Tewkesbury Hospital. Cheltenham General Hospital. Avonside Hospital, Evesham. These were provided by the County Council at child health clinics and in schools. Protection was offered, free of charge, against the following diseases: Diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles and smallpox, and in the case of school children aged about 13 years, when a simple test had shown that it was necessary, B.C.G. Vaccination against tuberculosis. Ambulance Service: This was also provided by the County Council, two ambulances being stationed in Pershore. Home and Domestic Help Service: This was organised by the County Council.
