Description

Formulae and recipe book of Benjamin Green, divided into three sections.

The first ninety nine pages contain mathematical and calculation tables for money and weights and measures with solved problems as examples of their use.

The middle section of the book contains a number of cookery, household and medical recipes, written in various hands. Medicinal recipes include sir Hans Sloane's recipe for the gravel, cure for the bite of a mad dog, and a preservative from infection both for man and beast. Some recipes are attributed and dated, with dates between 1701 and 1771 being found in the text.

The final section of the book contains a list of books arranged accoding to size (folio, quarto, octavo).

The last page contains a listing of linen dated 24 February 1734.
