Description

Black and white reproduction of a photograph of Cinchona trees, Java, Indonesia, with a person (possibly a plantation worker) in the centre of the trees. The photograph was possibly lent by Professor A. Tschirch (of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Berne) for Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The photograph has not been indetified in the souvenir catalogue.
