Book telling the story of the firm of Potter and Clarke from its beginnings in 1812 in Brixton Hill, London, as a supplier of leeches, herbs and seeds to a large, established manufacturer of plant-based medicines in 1848. Factories and laboratories are shown. Photographs of Henry Potter (there were three of them), Charles Goddard Clarke, Richard Cranfield Wren, Henry Arthur Potter and others. Popular brands include: Potter's Asthma Remedy, Slippery Elm Food, Thompson's Dandelion Coffee, Potter's Catarrh Pastilles, Tyr-Lol disinfectant, Haddit insecticide, Halibut Oil Capsules, Kasbah Kidney Remedy and herbal cures for asthma, bronchitis, constipation and rheumatism. Includes some reproductions of their advertising posters.
