WC585 1908R53d "The Diagnosis of Smallpox", Ricketts, T. F, Casell and Company, 1908 Plate LII, The eruption of pustular smallpox on the face of a woman, Fig 1 depicts the mature eruption. When the last photohraph was taken inscrustation had begun and brown pus was exuding from beneath the scabs. The patient died of septic absorption.
