Description

Palaeographia sacra or Discourses on monuments of Antiquity that relate to sacred history. Number II. A dissertation on the Mysterys of the Antients, being an explanation of the Table of Isis, or Bembine Table. Author's holograph MS. Illustrated by inserted engraved plates, including the complete 'Table of Isis' (folding) and parts of it cut out as separate plates. On fol. 16 is an original pencil drawing of Horus by the author; it has not been completed. Pasted in the lower cover is a drawing of 'The geometry of the Duke of Mountagu's bridg 17 Sep. 1744', also by the author. On verso of the title, armorial book-plate of the St. John Family. MS. 4722 is an earlier draft of this work, dated 1735-40. Produced in Stamford.
