Leprosy: skin

Tuberculoid (TT) leprosy: skin This image is a high power view of a skin section from a case of TT. There is a dermal lesion with large, pale epithelioid cells (note the prominent nucleoli). Small, dark lymphocytes are also present. H&E stain. Although nerve elements are not visible, this is probably the site of a neuritis, and the nerve has been destroyed.
