About this work

Description

A plague ("murrain" Authorised Version) lethal to horses, cattle, sheep, camels etc., with which the Egyptians were afflicted by God in his wrath at their treatment of the Jews, is described in the Old Testament, Exodus, chapter IX, 1-7. The artist has interpreted it as a plague of wild beasts which attack humans: lions are shown
