About this work

Description

Appointment of José Gracida y Bernal [1760?-1815] as Protomédico de Merced. Produced in Mexico. Signed, with rúbrica, by José de Iturrigaray [Viceroy 1803-08], and counter-signed, with rúbricas, by others. The vacancy was caused by the death in 1808 of José Vicente de la Peña, Catedrático de método from 1806. The letters of appointment rehearse the submission of three names to the Viceroy, his choice of the first name presented, and the confirmation of the Accountant General that the appropriate dues had been paid by the candidate.
