Description

Letters from Francis Galton to his father Samuel Tertius Galton, and to his sisters Adele, Elizabeth and Emma.

Letters January to June describe his studies at Trinity College Cambridge, examinations, accounts, plans for mechanical instruments including lamps and a rotary steam engine [with illustrations], as well as discussing family news and ill health.

Letters July to August describe Galton's summer holiday in Keswick with fellow Cambridge students, and enquire as to the rest of the Galton family in Scarborough.

Letters from October to November describe his time at Trinity, and discuss his accounts, and membership of the Camden Antiquarian Society.
