About this work

Description

Above, cherubim hold a coat of arms with the motto of the Academia Naturae Curiosorum, "Nunquam otiosus" (never idle). The woman receiving the gift holds a geometrical instrument and has epigraph "Rer[um] magistra" (mistress of the world). A chronicler on the left writes out "Ephemerid[es]", referring to the journal of the Academia Naturae Curiosorum entitled Ephemerides physico-medicae. One of the putti bringing exotic plants has an American headdress. In the background, sick people (?) watch with expectation
