About this work

Description

Line drawing in ink and brush style from an anonymous manuscript probably dating from the end of the Qing period (1644-1911). Yangqiao mai (Yang Heel Vessel) is one of the Eight Extraordinary Channels (Qi jing ba mai). It originates in the heel, and ascends via the outside of the ankle to fengchi (Wind Pool). Acu-moxa locations on this channel include shenmai (Extending Vessel), pucan (Servant's Respect); fuyang (Instep Yang), juliao (Stationary Crevice), jianshu (Shoulder Conveyor); jugu (Great Bone), dicang (Earth Granary) and chengqi (Receiving Tears). According to current teaching, pathological changes in the channel provoke insomnia, pain in the eyes, etc.
