Description

Certificate of examination and approval in the theory and practice of medicine of the bachiller Victorio Gracida. Produced in Mexico. Dated 9 October 1839, on papel sellado for 1838-39. Authorised copy of the certificate and licence to practice medicine originally issued by the Protomedicato on 20 September 1817 and signed by the President, J.I. García Jove [d. 1823] and the Protomédicos M.J. de Flores and the well-known Luis Montaña [1755-1820]. The certificate describes in the usual manner the candidate's personal appearance, vouches for his limpieza de sangre, describes his examination and oath, and awards him licence to practise.
