About this work

Description

The last part of an 8-part series in which Dr. Alice Roberts, doctor and anatomist, explores the workings of the human body. This part looks at the whole picture, how all aspects of the body work in harmony with each other and how all parts of our body can be affected by the faltering of one part. She looks at new 3-D versions of CT scans and visits the earliest UK human remains to see how human physiology has changed over the centuries. Stone-age man lived a very healthy lifestyle with good diet and plenty of exercise. The role of exercise on our general health and fitness is measured by Tim Cable as he puts a 26-year-old-man and a 62-year-old-man up against each other - the 62-year-old is a practised marathon runner and is almost twice as fit as the younger man. We also look at how and why cancer happens
