Description
Field stocks were much used as a means of inflicting minor punishments on female offenders when the trinidad Order (or "Model order") replaced flogging with this form of punishment. The stocks resemble the pillory, the hands are inserted into the grooves which could be raised at any height above the head, while the feet were placed in other grooves. The whole weight of the body rested so on the wrists and toes. Sometimes led or iron weigths were attached to the wrists
