About this work

Description

Frank Rowntree has just become a Master of Science in the Faculty of Medicine and explains what this means. He talks about the science of disease prevention, disease induced by behaviour. He summarises the history of medicine and the more recent focus on behaviour. He looks forward to 1974 when services are planned to be co-ordinated.

Francis St. D. Rowntree 1928-1996 was awarded the OBE in 1986. In 1987 he was appointed Vice President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and also Vice President of the Institute of Health.
For a period in the 1970s, Frank Rowntree was the Health Education Officer for Sheffield. He was invited into the BBC Radio Sheffield studios for a regular short weekly health spot.
