Notes

The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "[Two members] of the Bow Bells concert party attached to 56th (London) Division, behind the lines in France 1916-1917. Holland in drag is having his corset tied by the kneeling Oram, with clothes strewn across the floor. A very saucy image; it would have been unthinkable for such a photograph to have been published had the corset-wearer been a real woman. The high quality of this and other commercially produced postcards indicates the popularity of these concert parties both with the servicemen involved and with their friends and families at home."
This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
