Description

Described in Rubens's posthumous inventory (Specification mortuaire no. 103) as "A dance of Italian countryfolk, on wood" (Rosenberg, loc. cit.). Most of the dancers are bare-footed, though some wear sandals. Music is provided by a piper seated in a tree
