Quid Petre Coelestine odii non audeat ignis, / Sed quid non predibus, vel cruce possit amor / Te flammis urgent furiae iam cultor eremi, / Sed cruce sed precibus flamma furorque. Merlen del sc.
The word "predibus" appears to be engraved in place of "precibus". A word is missing at the end of the Latin couplets: possibly "sedent". The name Merlen is indistinct
Creator/production credits
The name Merlen, if correctly read, suggests that the author was Abraham van Merlen (1579-1660) or one of his sons Theodoor and Jacques
