An entertaining tour of Europe and the U.S. examining attitudes to ageing and efforts to outwit the ageing process and defy death. Part 1 is concerned with physical treatments and Part 2 looks at current attitudes to death and at the social implications of prolonging life beyond its present normal span. Part 1: Reveals the hopes with which a woman undergoes cosmetic surgery, and her eventual realisation that it will not transform her life. Discusses and shows the surgeon's techniques, and his own view of his specialisation. Shows spa treatments at Baden Baden, the regime of a U.S. anti- ageing health resort, interviews some vitamin fanatics and observes a meeting of the Eternal Flame Foundation, Arizona, whose members believe they will never die. Visits scientists researching cryonic suspension and shows a laboratory where the deceased are stored in vats of liquid nitrogen, having died in the expectation of being restored to life when the necessary process is discovered. Shows morphing image of how man will look as he ages.
