Let there be light : psychiatry in WWII.

Filmed over 3 months at New York's Mason Hospital, this film documents an intensive series of psychotherpeutic treatments for US battle casualties suffering from an array of psychoneurotic disorders. Individual psychiatric interviews are shown. We see the successful treatment of a patient suffering from hysterical conversion disorder following an injection of sodium amytal. The same treatment is demonstrated with a man who has developed a severe stutter. A group psychotherapy session is included as is treatment by hypnosis on a patient who has lost the ability to remember any of his wartime experiences. We follow the patients as their treatment is completed and they are re-united with their loved ones.
