Description

Personal, professional and patient correspondence, including material about local institutions with which he was involved, and on his interests in medical history. These papers were received in three small box files and in no particular order. They have therefore been sorted into sections reflecting the different aspects of Dr Gough's life and career.

Biographical note

[Wilfred] Brian Gough was born in 1909; in 1932 he obtained his MB and ChB at Birmingham and also passed MRCS and LRCP. He spent his career in Birmingham, as a general practitioner and also Anaesthetist to the Solihull Hospital and the Birmingham and Midlands Hospital for Women. He was a Fellow of the BMA and of the Royal Society of Medicine, and President of the Birmingham Medical Institute. He died in 1999. There is an obituary in the British Medical Journal
